Frequently Asked Questions

What is BLACKSHEEP?

BLACKSHEEP is the band’s debut album, released on 31 October 2025 through Bakers Ink. Eleven songs, thirty-one minutes, written and sung entirely in English, recorded live to analogue tape at Real World Studios, the studios Peter Gabriel built outside Bath, England. It was produced by Ruth Lorenzo and Emilio Esteban, engineered by Rafa Sardina, and mixed and mastered by Sylvia Massy.

What is RUTH?

RUTH is a Spanish rock band founded in 2022 by Ruth Lorenzo, who fronts it and writes the songs. It is a five-piece: Ruth Lorenzo on vocals, Nando Robles on bass, David Lozano on guitar, Ricardo Ruiz on keyboards and Sergio Bernal on drums. All five come from the Region of Murcia, where the band was assembled and rehearsed.

What is the album about?

It was written as a cathartic record. The running order is deliberate: the songs work through the toxicity that ordinary life accumulates and then let it go. It is about understanding and accepting who we are as individuals, and about treating the wish to think differently as something to embrace rather than to reject. The songs deal with toxic relationships, with abuse, and with the acceptance of letting go in order to grow and to see the beauty behind the wall of darkness. The vinyl edition includes a bonus track recorded during a live session, in which Ruth explains what being a BLACKSHEEP means; the same recording opens the live show.

Who is Ruth Lorenzo?

Ruth Lorenzo is a Spanish singer-songwriter, born in 1982 in the Region of Murcia. She is the founder, frontwoman and songwriter of the rock band RUTH, and she releases her music through her own label, Bakers Ink. She started out as a rock singer in Murcia, reached the live shows of The X Factor in the United Kingdom in 2008, spent the 2010s working in Spain, and returned to rock full time with RUTH in 2022.

Does Ruth Lorenzo use autotune or AI?

No. Everything RUTH and Ruth Lorenzo release is made the raw, traditional way. BLACKSHEEP was recorded live to analogue tape with the whole band playing together in one room, so there is nothing to correct afterwards: the vocals on the record are the takes she sang, without pitch correction and without generated or synthetic voice. It rests entirely on an extensive and powerful natural range, which has become rare.

Who released BLACKSHEEP?

Ruth Lorenzo released it herself, through her own label, Bakers Ink. The album was self-financed and there is no outside record company involved. Bakers Ink is her own imprint, not a third-party label, and the project was built that way so that creative control would stay in her hands.

Is RUTH touring? Where can I find the dates?

Yes. RUTH is on tour through 2026 and into 2027. All confirmed dates, venues and tickets are listed on the tour page of this site, which is the only authoritative source for live dates. The show opens with the spoken BLACKSHEEP recording from the vinyl edition, and the set runs about seventy-five minutes, entirely in English, built on the band’s own songs with the occasional classic made their own, from Queen to Led Zeppelin.

How do festivals, promoters and press get in touch?

Business and press enquiries go to business@bakers-ink.com. Personal management is handled by Nicolas Martinez de la Fuente at Bakers Ink, Ruth Lorenzo’s own label. Photography, artwork and further material are available on request.
