BLACKSHEEP

Debut album of RUTH. Released 31 October 2025 on Bakers Ink. Eleven tracks, 31 min 34 s, entirely in English.

BLACKSHEEP was recorded live to analogue tape at Real World Studios, the studios Peter Gabriel built outside Bath, England. The five members played in the same room at the same time, so nothing was tidied up afterwards: what the band played is what is on the record. No pitch correction, no synthetic voice.

It was written as a cathartic record. The running order is deliberate: the songs work through the toxicity that ordinary life accumulates, and then let it go. It is about understanding and accepting who you are, and about treating the wish to think differently as something to embrace rather than to reject. Produced by Ruth Lorenzo and Emilio Esteban, engineered by Rafa Sardina, mixed and mastered by Sylvia Massy. Self-financed and released independently, with no outside record label involved.
